Adopted or abducted?

Most women describe giving birth to a child as a life changing experience – in a word – “challenging”, “joyous”, “miraculous.”  But generations of young, unwed women describe their experience of giving birth to a child as a nightmare – and decades later their suffering has yet to end.

From Australia to Spain, Ireland to America, and as recent as 1987, young mothers say they were “coerced”, “manipulated”, and “duped” into handing over their babies for adoption.

Origins Australia (Forced Adoption Support Network) - Supporting People Separated by Adoption

Known Consequences of Separating Mother and Child at Birth

Adoption similar to a death

After their babies were taken mothers were left to get on with their lives as best they could, though it was known, at least as early as 1961 (Gough), that they would need to mourn their babies just as though they had lost them by death. This was acknowledged by Sister Borromeo in the Australian Journal of Social Work in 1968, and others wrote about the need for mothers to have support after their babies had been adopted, but this didn't happen.

World wide economic reform has seen mothers forced into the workforce and placing their babies into the care of others. Great trust is required and mothers and children go through great anxiety when having this forced separation placed on them.

The traditions of mum, dad and the kids, with dad heading off to work have been slowly killed off, and now the ideas of a community caring for the widowed and single mothers or fathers have have been dealt a great blow.

Australia The 10th Best Place To Be A Mother: Except When DoCS takes Your Child

I saw this on the news media the other night. What an amazing place to give birth, one of the safest places on Earth to give birth but unfortunately it is not safe for those of us who have been targeted by DoCS.

If you have been targeted by DoCS you are at risk when giving birth of having your child removed from the maternity ward on delivery.

This is a lovely story but  on a day like today, it is also a story that brings me tears and anger, it is not a jealous thing or a hateful thing, this is the way the world should be helping and supporting all mothers but I am not allowed to know my child and I am an older mother with three grown children. Why would DoCS go out of their way to destroy families, is it a certain type of person who is targeted, a certain kind of mother?

Is it a person who is unable to deal with the stress that DoCS bring into your life? What is behind the Child Protection Industry that they attack the most

Where is my baby, who is being her mother today? It has been four long years since they took her away. They broke me down with all the things they said, until they got in my head my family was free, now I am no longer that old me. They told me I was UNFIT to know my baby, well she was five, but the youngest of four and they broke us down. So far today, all my children have called, except the little one DoCS took away and wont let our family know. My children are adults DoCS said I abused them too

People responsible for forced adoption of single mothers need to be brought to justice

People responsible for forced adoption of single mothers need to be brought to justice

I frequent a group consisting of victims of the forced adoptions in the fifties, sixties and seventies, mostly mothers who had their babies stolen by the churches, doctors, people who were infertile, high ranking officials or in the armed forces.

Basically if you were a single mum in this era, in Australia, your baby was open slather, fair game, your loss was somebody else's baby. and it was all fully authorised by the Australian government. I have learnt a bit from listening to these people.

The subject matter often turns to whether a sorry is enough, or should they be pushing for a royal

Why Are We Testing Newborns for Pot?

Why Are We Testing Newborns for Pot?
The science is alarmingly inconclusive, but the punishment for mothers is severe.

Employees at US hospitals are testing more and more newborns for cannabis exposure. And, with alarming frequency, they are getting the wrong results. So say a pair of recent studies documenting the unreliability of infant drug testing.

In the most recent trial, published in the September edition of the Journal of Clinical Chemistry , investigators at the University of Utah School of Medicine evaluated the rate of unconfirmed "positive" immunoassay test results in infant and non-infant urine samples
