Coronial Inquest for Luke Borusiewicz

Fight Child Protection Department Corruption:
Coronial Inquest for Luke Borusiewicz

I made DoCS wait til I made this last film with Lukey, then they took him away.

Luke's Inquest was on 25-27 July 2012.

This photo was taken on my last visit with my Lukey Pookey, he died in my arms two weeks later. You can see the scratches on his face. I rang and rang trying to get him out of that house, away from that foster carer who had already been complained about over 20 times from abuse to other children. Pat Anderson, manager Cairns North DoCS wouldn't even return my calls, she knew all of this.

The next day at a visit with his mother she found severe scratches on his penis

Social workers reveal frustrations in Munro report

on Fri, 05/25/2012 - 09:25

So the much-anticipated Munro progress report has finally been published. One of the most interesting parts of it, in my humble opinion, is the feedback Munro got from councils trialling the absence of statutory assessment deadlines - because this is where the real nitty gritty of change is going to loom large for everyone in social care, writes Judy Cooper.

From the comments listed one gets the impression that social workers are itching for change, but their managers are, perhaps, not so keen.
Wandsworth reported: "Some social workers stated in their audit interviews that there was

How would you live on seventeen dollars a day

on Tue, 05/22/2012 - 20:13
Dear Rachel
Onya for doing this but the Budget cut the legs off the already destitute.
It is appalling that the most traduced and vulnerable – children – are again being made to suffer when their parent is pushed in to Newstart.  It should be called Lifestop!
Even after you did this experiment – nobody in government took any notice of the plight of people trying to survive below the poverty line on these ridiculously low payments.
As you know, women in particular those who have been dragged through the Family Law process are often left with nothing.

Foster care in Maine: Will one dumb politician undo a decade of progress?

on Sat, 05/19/2012 - 14:19
UPDATE, MAY 16: Longtime Portland Press Heraldcolumnist Bill Nemitz has a great column today about a classic case of Maine's child welfare agency confusing poverty with neglect - a perfect illustration of why the state needs to do more, not less, to curb needless foster care.

I’ve written often about the transformation of child welfare in Maine, and how child safety improved after the state abandoned a take-the-child-and-run approach in favor of one which emphasizes safe, proven programs to keep families together.  I’ve written about how the death of Logan Marr, a little girl taken needlessly

Disabled couple thrilled they keep their baby

on Wed, 05/09/2012 - 11:38

The proud parents of a 3-week-old baby boy learned Friday that they won’t lose their child to the Peel Children’s Aid Society after all.

“Yay!” Maricyl Palisoc, 34, yelled as she carried 9-pound William into her assisted living apartment unit in Mississauga with her fiancé, Charlie Wilton, 28. Both parents have cerebral palsy.

They had feared they would lose the baby, but a family conference meeting was held Friday with Peel CAS and the parents showed that they can address the safety and well-being of their child.

They have a personal care worker with them 24 hours a day and grandparents

Nevada Foster Kids Can Pursue Neglect Claims

on Wed, 05/09/2012 - 11:33
Foster children in Nevada can pursue claims that Clark County failed to keep them free from harm, neglected to provide proper medical care and generally mismanaged the foster program, the 9th Circuit ruled Friday.
In a 2010 lawsuit, the National Center for Youth Law and 13 foster kids alleged a litany of alleged abuses and oversights in the Clark County child welfare system.

The complaint detailed episodes of children being placed in homes known for abuse, kids left in pain for months after being denied surgery because of bureaucratic mistakes, and lost medical records resulting in

CFPS Nova Scotia, Canada child protection system reform needed

I have a total of five children taken by the Minister of Community Services in Halifax, NS.

I am an American citizen and Permanant Resident of Canada eligible, and eager to take her Citizenship in just a year or so. I immigrated here to Canada deciding to marry a friend of seven years thinking maybe a marriage based on a long term friendship.

That was my first mistake.

I am ~not~ a drug addict, and the agents of the Minister insist I, personally, am not abusive, however, they
