A Fort Bragg man accused of beating a 5-month-old baby girl to death in December while she was in his care has been scheduled for a July 22 trial in Mendocino County Superior Court.

Wilson L. "Josh" Tubbs III, 38, the baby's foster father, faces a charge of child abuse resulting in death, which carries the same weight as murder, according to the Mendocino County District Attorney's Office.

Judge John Behnke ordered Tubbs to be bound over for trial after three hours of testimony from three witnesses, including the child abuse specialist who examined baby Emerald Herriet

Using Facebook to connect foster care children with relatives
Facebook has opened up a new world of experiments for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

The state is using the social networking site as a tool in finding the relatives of children in foster care.

News 5's Dara Newson shows us how it's had an impact on lives.

"When it's your own relatives the chances that you say I'm sorry can't do this anymore seem to go down," said Debi Schriner.

Foster children are often moved from one unfamiliar home to another.

"Often times if they have to go into stranger care they get moved into a different community," Schriner explained.

Is it ever right to break the rules when working with children in care

Residential child care worker David Jones* discusses some professional dilemmas he’s faced, and explains why good relationships can actually make things harder

I was driving a young person into town recently when he said he'd arranged to meet his mother while we were out. His mother had never posed any physical or emotional risk to the lad, indeed she was a loving parent, but had sadly proved unable to provide him with a settled home environment due to depression.

The lad's social worker had ruled there should be no contact presently between mother and son, even if supervised by staff.

Couple told they cannot have their children back after being wrongfully accused of abuse to take court battle to Europe

A couple forced to give up three children for adoption despite a judge ruling they may have been wrongly accused of abuse yesterday vowed to take their legal fight to Europe.

Mark and Nicky Webster said they will never give up the battle to win back their daughter and two sons after the Appeal Court ruled this week that it was 'too late' for the family to be reunited.

The couple have not seen the children, now aged nine, seven and five, since they were put up for adoption four years ago.

Both myself and my partner have been through hell these last four years with the Gastapo (Social). Our youngest son was adopted through the courts (he was only 2.5 then) although this had been forced and the SS did nothing but lie along with the guardian we had absolutely no say in anything whatsoever. Alot of everything that was done was done behind our backs. They tried in hell to break us and split us both apart but they never suceeded in that score to which they hate.

The stress had made me so ill I started having seizures which I had to start taking strong medicaction for to keep the

A woman came up to me at a book signing in Winnipeg recently. She was smiling, but there was a shine in her eyes that most people who meet me on book tours don’t have.
She walked up confidently. She spoke quietly. She said she had driven a long way to see me. There was something vaguely familiar about her, but I could not place her face. She told me her name and I was floored.
She was my foster sister from my second foster home. Her name is Cyndy and we had not seen each other in 47 years. We hugged and the feeling of reconnection was amazing.
