Kiana Barker was convicted Friday of second-degree murder in the beating death of her foster child, Viola Vanclief,

A foster mother was convicted of second-degree murder Friday in the beating death of a 2-year-old girl she had been trying to adopt.

Kiana Barker, 33, faces 25 years to life in prison for the 2010 death of Viola Vanclief, a toddler in her care. A jury also convicted Barker of assault on a child causing death and child abuse.

Wendy Guadalupe Gomez Charged With Torture, Murder In Death Of Niece, Karla Isidro

Authorities in California said a 2-year-old girl was abused and tortured by her aunt for months before the child died.

The aunt, Wendy Guadalupe Gomez, 20, of Bakersfield, is being held in the Kern County Jail on $1.5 million bail on charges of second-degree murder, torture and willful cruelty to a child in the death of Karla Isidro.

The injuries the child sustained were inflicted "with the intent to cause cruel or extreme pain and suffering, and for the purpose of revenge, extortion, persuasion, or for any sadistic purpose," according to court documents obtained by Bakersfieldnow.com.

Man who is foster parent, ice cream truck driver, child advocate is charged with raping child

Investigators believe William Bardin sexually assaulted a young girl for several years.

COTTER, Ark. -- A man well respected in his community as an advocate for children faces charges for the sexual assault of a child.

William Leon Bardin is in the Baxter County Detention Center charged with rape.  Investigators said Bardin terrorized his young victim for several years.

Before Monday, children constantly surrounded William Bardin.  He's a foster parent, sometimes with 20 kids in his home.

TASWELL, IN (WAVE) – An extremely disturbing case of child abuse is unfolding in Crawford County. A couple is arrested and accused of 44 felonies against four children.

WAVE 3 News has learned these four children were in the foster care system. We've learned the four victims at one time were foster children of Bernie and Melissa Harmon until they legally adopted them.

In a house on Brown Cemetery Road, investigators believe a nightmare unfolded. Indiana State Police started investigating the Harmon's in March after getting a tip about possible neglect and abuse.

Longtime foster parent accused of molesting 2 girls

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Chester County D.A. urging other potential victims to come forward

A 60-year-old West Bradford man whose family has housed over 50 foster children is now charged with assaults on two children who were in his care, prosecutors say.

Leroy Mitchell, of the 1800 block of West Strasburg Road, was arrested Friday for assaulting one child, but an ongoing investigation has revealed another victim, the Chester County District Attorney's Office said Tuesday.

The first victim is a 9-year-old girl.

Attorney Brian Claypool takes on Orange County Child Protective Services CPS

Brian Claypool is one of the lead attorneys in the Miramonte child abuse case. Now, he's taking on Orange County's child protective services.  Claypool is accusing CPS of engaging in child trafficking and exposing children to sexual abuse for financial gain.  All of this, after the airing of one of our stories of children "Lost In The System".

Claypool is calling for a state and federal investigation into Orange County's CPS Department.  He says he's filing a federal civil lawsuit against CPS.

Claypool is representing Ruby Dillon.

A comprehensive study shows Tulsa County's family drug court is making a huge difference in getting people off drugs, and children out of foster care.

The program is having such good success, experts say it's becoming a model for other similar programs nationwide.

At the Tulsa County family drug court, they're going over the results of a comprehensive study on how they're doing. Jody Brook, a professor and child welfare researcher with the University of Kansas, did the study.
