THE Grafton Anglican Diocese had access to more than $200 million in assets when it refused to pay out less than $4 million to victims of child sex abuse, the royal commission has heard.

The revelation came just moments before former registrar Pat Comben surprisingly announced he had voluntarily relinquished holy orders and was no longer a reverend of the Anglican Church.

During yesterday's cross-examination, Mr Comben, who last week told the commission the diocese had felt threatened by the

Calgary family claims daughter ‘legally kidnapped’ by Alberta’s child services

Teenager Lexi Whyte sits with mother Jessica Taylor in a bedroom of their Calgary home. The pair were reunited last month after child services took custody of Lexi for six months amid claims Taylor manufactured and exaggerated her daughter’s illness. Now, with little explanation of what happened, Taylor is looking to clear her name and offer a cautionary tale to other parents.

Note: Child services are not there for the family, the parent or the child, Alberta Child Services are there for themselves.

Cost to county of lying social workers: $10.6 million

The total cost to Orange County of a case in which a jury found that two social workers lied to take away a woman’s daughters is $10.6 million, according to a new audit.

Deanna Fogarty-Hardwick

The U.S. Supreme Court last year declined to hear the county’s challenge to a 2007 jury award of $4.9 million to the Seal Beach woman, Deanna Fogarty-Hardwick. With interest on that amount plus her attorney fees, the total payout by the county was $9.6 million. In addition, the county incurred another $1 million of its own legal costs in the case.

THOUSANDS of vulnerable kids are being dumped in care homes surrounded by sex beasts, a report claims.

Many of the homes are in rundown seaside resorts and near to bail hostels, sex offenders and high levels of drug use and prostitution.

Some homes are specifically targeted by abusers, says the report by Deputy Children’s Commissioner Sue Berelowitz. Kids as young as four have been victims of sexual exploitation by gangs, it claims.

Around 4,500 young people live in England’s 1,810 care homes. And nearly half are sent to homes outside their local area.

Protecting Children or Tool of Revenge Against Parents

Fight Child Protection Department Corruption:

How did a rule designed to protect innocent children be used to harass innocent parents?

The Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare admits some parents have been investigated dozens of times for child abuse because of bogus, anonymous calls.

The arrest and conviction of former Penn State Football Coach Jerry Sandusky brought unprecedented awareness to child abuse, and a commitment to look closely at every claim.

But a couple in Luzerne County says someone is taking advantage of that awareness and commitment to investigate them, even though paperwork shows caseworkers investigating them,

With Adoption Tax Credit Due To Expire, Families Race To Adopt By Year's End

on Tue, 06/26/2012 - 03:45

NEW YORK, April 24 (Reuters) - Julie and Brett Redden are in a hurry for the paperwork to go through for the 6-year-old girl they are planning to adopt from China.
It's not just that they are impatient to start their lives with her as she joins an 11-year-old sister adopted from China two months ago. The Reddens are also playing a game of "beat the clock" so they can take advantage of a generous federal adoption tax credit.
They have already missed out on the refundable 2011 credit, which allowed tax savings of as much as $13,360 per child.

Best description of today's Maryborough Court hearing is BAZAAR

on Wed, 05/23/2012 - 07:14
Hi folks

Best description of today's Maryborough Court hearing is 'BAZAAR'

Karen & I watched a dozen folks go before us, most pleading 'guilty' whereby Mag John Smith
did his duty & asked each if they plead of their own free will and without police pressure or oppression &
that they didn't have to enter a plea. What a show

When my turn came, it was a complete character change & the Magistrate literally aggressively demanded I enter a plea
and on no less than 5 or 6 occasions threatened me, including one occasion 'I'll put you back in jail!'

On 3 occasions I asked him
