THE protection of troubled children has been hijacked by obstructive control freaks who rely on psychological advice instead of obvious solutions, a judge says.

Senior Youth Court judge Stephen McEwen has levelled scathing criticism against the Department for Education and Child Development - formerly known as Families SA.

In a transcript obtained by the Sunday Mail, he said the department was paralysed by its reliance on a team of highly paid psychologists.

Relationship with new administration, changes in compensation spark pushback

OTTAWA — Foster parents are threatening to leave Family and Children’s Services of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville because the agency is bringing in changes they say will make it impossible to give the children the care they need.

“People are talking about a mass exodus,” says Gena Morrow, a foster parent with the agency, which looks after about 120 foster children in Brockville, Kemptville and Gananoque.

Along with her husband, Tony, Morrow is spearheading a pushback against the changes to compensation which she says

Now it's a social worker for every child - in Scotland

More state interference in families will not protect children

For anyone familiar with how our “child protection” system too often works in practice, rather loud alarm bells might be rung by a Bill currently going through the Scottish Parliament that takes the state’s intervention in family life to a startling new level. Under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Bill, every child from birth will be given a “named person”, charged with keeping an eye on that child’s interests until it reaches adulthood.

Child Protection in Tasmania - The Anecdotal Vacuum

Andrea Sturges is no better than your run of the mill high ranking child stealer.

I witnessed first hand desparate parents begging her for help, only to be blatantly insulted and turned away. I witnessed their children clinging to them during loving hugs. The children beg child protection to return them to their parents who have never abused them.

What does Ms Sturges have to say to this heartbroken family???

I am satisfied at the forefront of my officer's minds was the safety and wellbeing of the children. Anecdotal evidence reported by my officers confirms.... (all of their lies).

Senator Pushing Major Overhaul Of Maine's Guardian Ad Litem System

Before David Dutremble got divorced in 2005 and fought for shared custody of his children, he had never heard of a guardian ad litem.

Now, in his first term as a state senator, Dutremble is leading an effort to reform what he considers a broken system, in which judges assign specially registered lawyers or mental health workers to step into the most contentious cases, such as divorces, to represent the children.

Dutremble, a Democrat from Biddeford, has filed a bill to make sweeping changes to Maine's guardian ad litem

My Wonderings

I was never cause of any real trouble in my life. I prided myself in being a follower of the law and still do.

I did not choose a career but am trained and educated. I gave birth to my firstborn child while I was 36. A grown able woman.I found after the baby came that all was not going to be well as we experienced forms of violence against us via the paternal father. There was response from R.C.M.P. and I was advised to seek sole custody as the father had a long criminal record and ended up with supervised visits.

Later in years to come after the father giving up on supervised visits and

Quit call by youth workers in West Australia's juvenile justice system

WA's crisis-ridden juvenile justice system is about to worsen with a quarter of the state's at-risk youth intervention workers threatening to quit.

Sources said morale among prevention and diversion officers was at an all-time low as a result of being unable to do their jobs because they were being used as makeshift parole officers instead.

And they claim this will lead to more young people coming into contact with the courts, placing further pressure on the system.

"The situation is really at breaking point," one
